From the beginning, gems and minerals interested us. We began buying books about the ins and outs of where to find different stones throughout the United States. When we had our first outing, we went to an area within two hours of San Diego. Once we arrived, we got out to explore. The dirt roads were riddled with beautiful, natural moonstones from previous excavacation. After a bit more exploration, we found better quality moonstones in the mounds of dirt that we sorted through. The fresh air was crisp and the natural landscape was beautiful. This is how we began our hunt for more.
"The mountains on our way through Oregon were just as spectacular as searching for gems."
We hit the road for more adventures that were farther away. We headed up the coastline to Oregon, in search of Amethyst and Agate crysyals.
The insane hikes!
Hallelujah mountain is approximately two hours away from our favorite spot in the Northern California region, Sierraville. We visit friends from decades ago to see the kids, grandkids, and nature. While on our vacation, we went to take a look at the beauties that the mountain had to offer like Amethyst and Quartz crystals. Our friends even began to come with us on our trip to the mountain.
This mountain has a trail that is taken to get all the way to the excavation sites; however, there's a twist. The road is too slippery to take a minivan like the one we have all the way up. The mountain allows us to travel halfway with our car but the rest of the travel is on foot or with a 4x4 truck. The first time we went, the view astonished us and the gems recovered were well worth the long, up-hill hike!
